Gold Thread Productions presents Marsha Norman’s American hard-hitting, but beautiful play, ‘Night, Mother, winner of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize.

The play is a harrowing, powerful and moving exploration of depression and suicide and takes place in real time over the course of one evening shared between Jessie and her mother, Thelma.

*Please note this production contains explicit reference to suicide and a fake gun*

All profits from this production will be going to Papyrus, a charity for suicide prevention.

NATALIE LAUREN

Natalie is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and the University of Oxford. Her credits, while training, include As You Like It (Shakespeare's Globe), Henry V (Glasgow's Botanical Gardens), The Aliens and Dr Faustus (both at RCS). She has just returned from touring The Merchant of Venice in Italy and is excited to be presenting 'Night, Mother as her first show since moving back to London.

LARA MARKS

Lara is a graduate of the University of Oxford, where she set up Gold Thread Productions. She first staged Dying Light and then produced, directed and acted in The Real Thing in Berlin and Five Women Wearing the Same Dress in Oxford and then at the Edinburgh Fringe. Her acting credits whilst at Oxford include Celebration; Cashiered (NW); Friar Bacon and Friar Bungay; Arcadia; Guys and Dolls; RXJ (NW based on Romeo & Juliet); The Nightingale and The Rose; I, Marcus (NW) and Girls will be Girls (NW). She is excited for her London producing debut.

Romy Lane

Romy is a British-New Zealand actor, director and movement director. She is a recent graduate of King’s College London and Italia Conti. She has most recently played Steph in the short film ‘Heartthrob’, and Maggie in the play ‘The Mill on the Floss’ with Italia Conti. ‘Night, Mother is her directorial debut.

Samantha Pears

Samantha has directed numerous short pieces since graduating with a BA in Acting from the London College of Music in July 2019, this is the first full length play she has helped bring to life and is thrilled for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful cast and creative team, and is excited to share it.

Isabelle Groenewegen

Isabelle is in her final year at Georgetown University, where she is majoring in Comparative Literature with minors in French and Art. Isabelle has been head of Outreach for Bossier magazine - Georgetown’s first arts magazine dedicated to promoting and sharing female and femme voices on campus. She has worked in collaboration with Gold Thread Productions since 2018, designing the graphics for The Real Thing in Berlin and Five Women Wearing the Same Dress in Edinburgh.

With What Eyes

With What Eyes are a London pop duo comprising of Phoebe Mallinson and Callista McLaughlin. Their most recent single ‘Dragonfly’ is currently out on Spotify and they are set to release their EP in the coming months. Their song that appears at the end of the show has been composed specifically for Night, Mother.
