Formed in the United Arab Emirates in 2015, Tse Tse Fly Middle East started life as a sound art club night.  Now based in London, Tse Tse Fly Middle East is a registered non-profit experimental arts organisation that kickstarts discussions on human rights and freedom of speech issues via live performances, workshops and interventions.  The Tse Tse Fly Middle East live event at the Landor Space will feature short art films by practitioners from Middle Eastern, African and the Indian subcontinent, mini-documentaries and animations on socio-political themes, and live performances.

The evening will support five charities/organisations: Reprieve (international human rights), Womankind Worldwide (workers’ rights), FORWARD UK (FGM, child marriage and obstetric fistula in Africa), Labour Behind the Label (supporting garment workers' rights) and Index On Censorship (supporting freedom of expression). Literature from the charities and organisations will be available on the night along with the opportunity to sign up for their various newsletters.

7PM - doors open
7.30PM - 8.30PM - short films screening showcasing the charities and organisations' work plus Tse Tse Fly-curated selection of experimental videos
8.30PM - 10PM - live performances from Catherine Earnshaw and storywheel, Jenan Younis and gooseberry.

The performers:

Catherine Earnshaw and storywheel - Keith Clouston (aka storywheel) is a distinguished composer and musician whose collaborators range from Natacha Atlas to the Royal Shakespeare Company.  Catherine Earnshaw is a vocalist struck from the same mould as Shirley Collins. Keith plays the oud while Catherine contributes haunting vocals on a project that melds traditional English folk songs with Middle Eastern music sensibilities.

Jenan Younis - Jenan is a London-based comedian of Palestinian and Iraqi descent whose keenly-observed comedy has been described as a slap in the face - so don't sit within arm’s reach. Culturally inappropriate, politically unacceptable and explosively funny.
Smart, hip comedian - not to be missed - The List

Gooseberry - debut performance for the trio formed by Ligeti Quartet founder and violin virtuoso Mandhira de Saram. Gooseberry feature Mandhira (violin), Klaus Bru (flute/saxophones/electronics) and Steve Beresford (electronics/objects). Expect a set of improvised music with electronic noises, strange meters and odd tempos from three of the best performers on the UK experimental music scene.
